Review: Mercer Hotel, Barcelona, Spain
Ranked #70 in our countdown of the 100 Best Hotels and Resorts in the World.
In Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter, Hotel Mercer has some serious design cred. Architect Rafael Moneo has worked magic here, combining ancient Roman walls with classic Catalan arched doors, cool stone patios and sleek finishes.
The glassed-in courtyard is redolent with orange blossom and the rooftop terrace, with its plunge pool, overlooks the Basilica.
At Mercerino, in the meticulously restored Roman defence tower, food is Spanish with a modern slant. There’s a seductive cocktail bar too.
